01 Questions you type

The optional question field is processed only in your browser to show your question next to the answer. The text is not sent to a server, not stored by the site and not included in any share or copy action unless you copy it yourself.

02 Cookies, analytics and browser storage

We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are viewed. It loads a script from Google and sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier) that give your browser a random identifier. Google receives technical data such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you view, and processes it as described in Google’s privacy policy. We use this only for aggregated statistics; the question you type is never sent. Analytics runs on the main pages, not on the embeddable /embed/ widget.

The site does not set any other cookies. If you use the light/dark toggle, your choice is kept in your browser’s session storage under the key “a-magic8ball-theme” until you close the tab or browser, so each new visit starts in light mode. This value stays on your device and is not sent to us.

We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking scripts. Whether a consent prompt is required before analytics loads depends on where you live; how consent is requested, the Google Analytics data-retention setting and any data-sharing settings are to be confirmed by the operator.

03 Hosting and server logs

Like any website, this site is delivered by hosting and content-delivery infrastructure that may record technical request data such as IP address, requested URL, browser type and time of request. These logs are used for security and reliability.

04 Contact messages

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to respond. The site has no contact form, so nothing is submitted through the website itself.

05 Third-party content and sharing

Apart from Google Analytics (above), the site embeds no third-party widgets, fonts or media. It does offer an embeddable version of the ball (an iframe page at /embed/) that other websites may use; that page sets no cookies and loads no third-party content, and loading it is recorded in hosting logs like any other page. If you use Share, your device’s own share sheet opens and nothing is sent anywhere until you choose a destination. If sharing is not available, the result text is copied to your clipboard instead.

06 Children’s privacy

The site is general-audience entertainment and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Applicable children’s privacy requirements are to be confirmed by the operator.
